As part of the celebration of 50 years of collaboration and development between two nations very close to ScanCom’s heart – Vietnam and Denmark – the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Kim Højlund Christensen visited our new aluminium Excellence Centre in the Mekong region alongside esteemed representative leaders from the regional People’s Committee.

The visitors were given a warm welcome by ScanCom’s top management, before being taken on a tour around the newly built facilities – guided by Mr. Lars Overgaard, ScanCom Group COO. Special praise and attention was given to the conditions for the workers, as well as the commitment and setup for managing and collecting waste material, for reintroduction into the production loop.

The visit also marked an official inauguration of the new factory, as the Covid-pandemic and subsequent lock down had previously postponed the visit from the local authorities and the Danish representatives to Vietnam.

The esteemed guests enjoyed a detailed and guided tour of the facilities, showcasing the state-of-the-art equipment and processes.

The collaboration between Vietnam and Denmark is a key relationship for many organisations in both countries, and ScanCom are very proud to have been selected as one of the organisations to host the marking of this great anniversary. Having been operating in and from Vietnam through a Group company, ScanCom Vietnam Ltd., for more than 25 years, the organisation also takes great pride in having been part of the development not only between the two nations, but also the development within Vietnam in our industry, over the past decades.

ScanCom CEO, Stig Maasboel, said on the occasion: “On behalf of all our employees, customers, partners and our owner – Lars Larsen Group – we are very humble and extremely proud of having this first official visit to our group’s largest investment ever. We hope to be able to grow and centralize all our global furniture production in Metal in this site – Long Giang Industrial Park –, and together with the local leadership and the Danish Embassy we believe we can do much for the benefit of the region and its people.”

ScanCom CEO, Stig Maasboel, addresses the guests in a welcoming speech, thanking the attendees and ScanCom’s owners for all the support and commitment.

Adding to this, Group CBDO, Lars Rudkjobing, said: “The official opening and recognition of our biggest investment and new factory means a lot to us internally in the ScanCom Group, but it also represents a next step in our commitment to our customers. Being able to produce at scale in our own state-of-the-art factory will no doubt be a benefit our customers who also believe in ‘Doing Business the Right Way’ and with a focus on sustainability, design and excellent production like we have.”

A statement from the Danish Embassy reads: “The Embassy, ScanCom and Tien Giang’s leaders took the opportunity to exchange ideas on how to strengthen the cooperation between Denmark and the province. We wish all the best to ScanCom’s Long Giang factory and look forward to seeing more cooperation with Tien Giang province.”

A formal business exchange meeting took place, with the parties reaffirming the mutual commitment for continued development.

There was also time for an exchange of gifts and good will towards one another.

Mr. Maasboel concludes: “We are very pleased to also have had the chance for this very constructive meeting with the Local Leaders and the Embassy, where we have exchanged and reaffirmed our commitment to our future collaboration. ScanCom is recognized as one of the frontrunners and Award winning Danish companies within green development and sustainability, and we are proud to be able to produce in this province, and we believe we are proudly hosted here as well.”

ScanCom remain fully committed to playing a role for the relationship between Vietnam and Denmark, and with the establishment of the first fully owned factory in Vietnam this is clear to see – ScanCom has been part of Vietnam for many years and will continue to be so for years to come.
