Our brand LifestyleGarden® has been working exclusively in partnership with the Eden Project, helping to further drive our common goal of promoting environmental responsibility and transforming the outdoor living category by raising the bar for sustainability.

The Eden Project

The Eden Project is an educational charity which connects us with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work towards a better future. Since fully opening in 2011 Eden has welcomed more than 20 million visitors. Nestled in a huge crater, massive covered Biomes house the largest rainforest in captivity, Mediterranean landscapes, stunning plants, crop displays, art installations, exhibitions and stories serve as a backdrop to the striking contemporary Outdoor Gardens, summer concerts and exciting year round family events. The Eden Project raise funds from ticket sales to donations and from retail to catering, supporting transformational projects and learning programmes.

The Perfect Partnership

Like the Eden Project, LifestyleGarden® is driven by a desire to always positively impact upon the world; from guaranteeing fair and safe working environments for its employees across the globe, to ensuring all aspects of the business, from material provenance to manufacturing processes, remain as sustainable as they can be. Every product in the LifestyleGarden® portfolio is truly reflective of our ethos, featuring both recycled and recyclable ethically sourced materials, and are created in a sustainable way that works hard to reduce waste.

Talking about the new partnership, Stig Maasbøl, ScanCom International Group CEO, said: “We are proud to be a sustainable partner to the Eden Project, and we welcome this cooperation much more than the business involved, as establishing a partnership with somebody having so many values in common is a unique opportunity”

The special licensing agreement was sealed after Eden scrutinised ScanCom’s worldwide commitment to ethical business. From guaranteeing fair and safe working environments for its employees to using recycled and recyclable ethically sourced materials, and a proven commitment to waste reduction, every aspect of the operation had to meet or exceed stringent standards to successfully partner with Eden to promote environmental sustainability.

The DuraOcean® Chair in Eden’s Mediterranean biome

At the heart of the new relationship is DuraOcean®, the ground-breaking, award-winning chair made from nets, ropes and plastic waste salvaged from the world’s seas, with each chair crafted from 3.5kg of recovered ocean plastic. An exhibit of DuraOcean® on a replica beach in Eden’s Mediterranean biome has ignited interest in DuraOcean® at a time when concern over ocean plastic waste is at an all-time high.

Paul Cohen, Sales Director at LifestyleGarden®, said: “Displaying Eden Project branding on our 2020 ranges, combined with the launch of the highly acclaimed DuraOcean®, holds the key to revolutionising the way in which retailers will sell outdoor furniture next season. The replica beach at Eden has resonated with the project’s visitors this year, hitting home the message that it’s possible to buy stylish, robust outdoor furniture that leaves a positive impact on the planet. Retailers have been placing orders with confidence, knowing that consumers will be inspired by the story behind DuraOcean® and our partnership with Eden, which is driven by the same common goal of leaving the planet in better shape for the next generation.”

Exclusive ranges for The Eden Project

LifestyleGarden®’s exclusive new ranges are also taking pride of place in the Eden Kitchen, known to visitors as the main dining area that sits between Eden’s two famous biomes. As part of a refit of the landmark Cornish attraction’s catering facilities, LifestyleGarden®’s limited edition Banyan Tree Cast Aluminum Chairs, inspired by the Banyan Tree in Eden’s Rainforest Biome, have been installed and paired with the company’s automatically self-levelling and folding Gyro Bistro Tables – showcasing the latest innovative sustainable furniture at Eden’s heart.
