Clear targets, based on science.

It is with great pride we can announce that the ScanCom Group has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Based on valuable work by ESG team our Core CO₂ Team, ScanCom have set and submitted both near- and long-term targets for CO2 reductions to be achieved across all our operations.

As a largescale manufacturer, we are aware that we can have a great impact when we focus our efforts, and that actions are needed to safeguard our environment and planet – our products belong outdoors after all!

On the signing ScanCom Group CEO, Stig Maasbøl, shared: “This is a natural step and commitment from ScanCom after years of work with sustainability, and fully in line with our ambitions to reduce the CO2 emission from our operations by 80% by 2030, with a first milestone of 40% GreenHouse Gas emission reduction by 2026.”

Our Core CO₂ team is continuously working on sharpening our Sustainability Roadmap with concrete actions; with a long-term target of reaching net-zero in our emissions by 2050.

All ScanCom’s targets are set from the base year 2020-21, in accordance with SBTi requirements.

There is no doubt that we have a lot of work to do, but with our material offerings of recycled content and diligent work with reducing and reintroducing, we are up for the task and already have a great foundation and experience to work from.

We’re excited to take part, taking more action, and hope to inspire other companies as we have been inspired by our co-committers to SBTi.

What is SBTi:

The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi call to action is one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments.

Science-based targets show companies and financial institutions how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to prevent the worst effects of climate change.
